This reminds me of an X-Files episode. I was a fan - this was one of my favorites. Two guys get a genie from a carpet that was left in a storage shed. Every wish backfires. World peace, a boat, gold, invisibility, nobody gets exactly what they want from the genie. The episode ends with Mulder wishing that the genie could be just a regular person who can sit in a coffee shop and enjoy a cup of coffee. That one worked out. See! Even genies respond to a little respect. Here's episode details: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0751145/maindetails .
