So I’ve been riding my trust old steel Schwinn single speed bike for about three years now and the poor thing is getting mighty ragged. I’ve been thinking about an overhaul, but also perhaps a whole new purchase. Every once in a while I see this one amazingly sexy bike parked where I park at the train station on my morning commute and I just salivate over it’s shear beauty.

All of a sudden, rather out of the blue I come across Republic Bikes of Dania Beach, Florida. They’ve got this slick web site where you can ‘build your own‘ track bike from the colors and sizes they have in stock. And wouldn’t you know it, a complete bike is just $344 bucks. Hmmmm. I may be on to something here. Just look at the fun designs you too can make:

that's an awesome site! If I could bike to work that would be my Bike of Choice, I like the popular build "ranger"
  • I hear this bike is a bit heavy, but what can you expect with that price!
  • Pia
I covet. Damn. I live too far away to dream of a bike like this.

  • How far is too far, Pia? Are you still in China?
  • joshuagrace
    pretty sweet ideas.
  • Right? Need a new bike, buddy?
  • joshuagrace
nah, most of the time i can't even keep up with the 2 that i have
  • Damn, that's a steal! Unless shipping is another $300. ; )
Those colors are great for night-biking survival as well.
  • Shipping is only $32, actually. :)
  • $344.00 for a complete bike?! Huh. That sounds like a steal of a deal. I'm guessin' it ain't serious bling-bling, but that build of yours loos pretty sweet--GO FOR IT!
  • Thanks, yeah, the look pretty sick. But I wonder if the quality it high or not. $350 for a track bike isn't really a steal, quite. But it's competitive for sure. Especially for all those cool details.
