I think it may be a bit earlier than 1980, though. <br><br>When I was in high school (circa 1990), I had a friend who picked up a white 76 Civic with a mere 10k on it for about 500 bucks. Great car. When I was in high school (circa 1990), I had a friend who picked up a white 76 Civic with a mere 10k on it for about 500 bucks. Great car. He drove that thing around for about 3 years 'til some drunk guy plowed into him head-on. My friend survived. The car didn't.

But eventually I realized I was never a real car guy and never bought a new one. For the last 20 years, I've bought my pops cars 2nd hand, good if you live in the city.
