One of the first things I’ve been meaning to mention is a great new section of Hulu for Documentaries. Anyone who’s played around the online video space in the last few years knows that Hulu is changing the rules and pushing boundaries. They announced in their blog recently that they’ve begun new content partnerships with some indie documentary studios and will make great films like Super Size Me and others available for free on the site. Sweet, eh?

As some of you know, our awesome kitty Werner passed away earlier this month from a rare kitten disease. It was heartbreaking. We had only had him for about three months, but he was the first addition to our family and he was truly a special cat. Frail and small, but he had a huge heart.

It’s been almost a month since then, and we decided we sure missed a little furball running around our house so we went ahead and adopted another kitten from PAWS. Maysle saw me walking by his cage and immediately reached out to me. I’m pretty sure we were fated to be together. He’s adorable, soft and precocious. And yes, we continue the trend of naming out pets after our favorite filmmakers… we are nerds, after all.

Sadly, a day after I sent them my subscription payment and a couple weeks after enjoying the first issue I got in the mail, Everywhere Magazine, the community-made travel magazine, is ceasing publication.

The publishing company is will continue to produce it’s older sister mag, JPG Magazine. So there is that. And it will remain an online community where you can share photos and stories. But I sure liked the travel version of the publication.

Magazines – will they survive? It’s rough out there in the paper publishing world, kids.

As you see, I did a major overhaul of my blog this evening. It’s been a long time coming, things were getting mighty stale around here.

First, I’m back to white! Also, a new header image up there is a photo we took on our ‘spontaneous road trip to cape may‘ back in late November. Pretty cool, huh?

Secondly, for all you blog nerds out there, I’ve ditched K2 in favor of a personally modified version of WordPress Default. I did so because I wanted to add some new plugins friends of mine are developing. One of those, for example, is the Viddler Video Commenting plugin. Now you can leave me video comments right here in the blog (if you have a Viddler account, which you should, they rule).

So bear with me as I ditch the bugs that I’m sure are still rooting around here in the code. And heck, if you see anything wonky, shoot me a line, eh?
