It’s Cold Near Lake Huron, But Not This Cold

Michigan has had the coldest winter in decades. Water expands to freeze, and at Macinaw City the water in Lake Huron below the surface ice was supercooled. It expanded to break through the surface ice and froze into this incredible wave.

Nazareth Polar Bear Swim

I have never done the swim yet, but I have heard about it’s legend for years. My brother Paul, his best friend Chris, Chris’s siblings and several other nutty kids love to jump into the Bushkill Creek at Jacobsburg State Park in my high school hometown every Christmas. This is the ~~8th~~ 9th year they’ve done it! I love this kind of good old fashioned funtimes. I’m going to try my best to be there for the 10-year anniversary. Christmas Road Trip, Not Looking Good

Audrey and I ~~are~~ were planning to drive to Utah for Christmas with a stop over to see her sister in Minnesota [update: the weather won. We'll just bought cheap plane tickets straight to SLC]. We’ll be blogging and videoing our adventure, so make sure to stop back here often if you’re interested in that sort of thing. We’ll be sure to entertain you.

Right now, I have an eagle eye on the stupid weather which so far is not cooperating very nicely. Both sets of parents are begging us off this trip, or at least to find alternative travel or whatever. Right now, I’m still ~~90%~~ ~~50%~~ 0% sure we’re set to leave Friday evening. Stay tuned.
